Policy

In order to ease and improve relationships with my students, and to minimize some of the future questions and concerns, the following Studio Policy comes in effect on September 2nd, 2014.

Arrival

In respect of the study time of your peers, and since I don’t have a separate waiting area, I ask you to please come to your lesson not more then 5 minutes earlier. Sometimes I might run a little longer on the previous lessons and in such case your lesson might start few minutes later. As the result, the end time of your lesson will be extended to compensate. If, however, you are late to your lesson the length will be shortened to respect the next student’s time as well as my own.

Student cancelations

I expect everyone to adhere to his or her weekly schedule. However, sometimes there are situations that require a change in that schedule. If you need to cancel a lesson due to illness or other medical emergency I will accept last minute notifications. In such case the only way to notify me is by calling my home phone number (703-764-9414) as I do not check my email nor answer my mobile phone during teaching hours. For any other reason that you deem necessary to cancel your lesson you must notify me at least 24 hours in advance. I will attempt to make up all properly canceled lessons to the best of my abilities and available schedule. If there are no options to make up the lesson during the same month that lesson is transferred to the next month.

Weather

I do not normally close my studio due to weather conditions since my studio is at home. However, I do understand and respect difficulties with getting around when weather is not cooperating. In such cases please notify me as early as possible and I will attempt to make up the lesson to the best of my abilities and available schedule. If there are no options to make up the lesson during the same month that lesson will be transferred to the next month.

Holidays

Lessons that fall onto Federal Holidays or School Holidays should be discussed on a case-by-case basis. If you have plans that will prevent you from attending your lessons please notify me at a minimum a week in advance.

Teacher cancelations

There might be occasional cancelations from my side due to performances or family reasons. In such cases I will attempt to make up all lessons to the best of my abilities and available schedule. If there are no options to make up lessons during the same month these lessons will be transferred to the next month.

Fees

I ask everyone to pay his or her fees, for the full month in advance, at the beginning of the first lesson of the month. The fees are calculated based on your per lessons rate multiplied by the number of lessons in the month. If you have a lesson transferred from the previous month that lesson is subtracted from the total monthly fee. Example: there was a cancelation in the month of December and the make up lesson was transferred to January. In January there are 4 Mondays but you only need to pay for 3 Mondays since the forth one is transferred from previous month.

Studio Recitals and Other performances

Every year there are two studio recitals in December and June. Participation is not required but encouraged. In addition, there are various opportunities for performing through the NVMTA and FLMF. Please keep in mind that participation in their recitals involves paying a fee for participants.

I expect everyone to practice daily and come to lessons prepared to continue progressing forward.
